Iran has discussed proposals with Qatari mediators for presentation to the United States and expects Washington’s final response to be delivered through Doha, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Monday, according to the state-run IRNA news agency.

Middle East Eye, citing the IRNA report, said the diplomatic exchange was part of a renewed effort to bring the war to an end. Araqchi made the remarks while in New York. The report did not provide details of the ideas discussed with Qatar, or indicate when Tehran expects to receive the US response.

Qatar’s role, as described by Araqchi, involves relaying the ideas discussed with Iran to US officials and then communicating Washington’s final position back to Tehran. No information was given about the format of the discussions with Qatari mediators or whether any additional exchanges would take place before the US response.

Araqchi also said Iran had notified both the United States and the wider international community of conditions set by the country’s Supreme Leader for reopening the Strait of Hormuz. He did not disclose what those conditions were, according to the report.

The foreign minister presented Iran’s proposals as a potential route toward an agreement. “If the Americans claim they are seeking an agreement or a peaceful solution, we have presented that solution,” Araqchi said.

The comments indicated that Doha remained the channel through which Tehran anticipated receiving Washington’s decision. However, the report did not state how the United States had reacted to the ideas so far, what matters they covered, or whether the parties had agreed to a timetable for further diplomatic steps.

The IRNA account also did not elaborate on the connection between the proposals sent through Qatar and Iran’s conditions concerning the Strait of Hormuz. Araqchi’s remarks addressed both issues while outlining Tehran’s position during the latest diplomatic push, but no further details were provided on either the proposed solution or the requirements for reopening the strait.
