Shaktikanta Das urges Global South unity against unilateral major‑power actions

Shaktikanta Das has called on nations of the Global South to present a united front in response to unilateral actions taken by major powers, a statement reported by ANI News and circulated through Reuters World.

The appeal emphasizes the need for countries traditionally grouped under the Global South to coordinate their positions and policies when confronting decisions made by leading states without broader consultation. Das highlighted that such independent moves by powerful nations can have far‑reaching consequences for economies, security and development agendas across the southern hemisphere.

According to the report, the call for unity is rooted in concerns that unilateral measures may undermine multilateral frameworks and the shared interests of emerging and developing economies. By urging collective action, Das suggests that a coordinated stance could enhance the bargaining power of Global South nations in international forums and negotiations.

The statement reflects a broader discourse on the balance of influence between established powers and the growing bloc of developing countries. While the report does not detail specific policies or incidents, it underscores a perception that major powers sometimes act without sufficient regard for the perspectives of less‑influential states, prompting calls for a more inclusive approach to global governance.

Das's remarks were conveyed through ANI News, a news agency that provides coverage of regional and international developments. The story was subsequently picked up by Reuters World, indicating the relevance of the message to a wider audience interested in geopolitical dynamics and the evolving role of the Global South in world affairs.
